Lysia, 21
5'5"; weight undisclosed
Hair: orange-blonde
Eyes: brown
Complexion: medium tone; leaning towards pale
Clothing: A deep plum robe with separate cowl and blue mantle.
Race: human
Occupation: Vestal Virgin; expelled
Weapons: Modified versions of prayer (see: spells) and a ceremonial dagger
Abilities: Conjuring of poisoned water and the power to extinguish flame/light

Backstory
Ordained at age 7, Lysia relinquished the name of her father in favor of becoming a Vestal Virgin, the only order of priestesses in the empire. A woman of great piety, Lysia completed all her duties as a Vestal with much reverence. At age 20, the emperor, smitten with her, asked her to break her vow of chastity, an action she pointedly deplored and refused to comply with. Consequently, the emperor spent a great deal of his time trying to court her and thusly neglected his stately duties. The gods were, as a result, rather nonplussed and Jupiter eventually ordained that the easiest way to solve the whole issue was by removing the emperor's distraction. While Vesta at first disagreed with such a solution, as the Vestal Virgins were, obviously, devotees of said goddess, the argument over the whole affair erupted and the peace-loving goddess opted, instead, to allow Jupiter to follow through with his plan.
Consequently, Lysia was promptly framed for breaking her vow of chastity. She was drugged and thrown, nude, into bed with another unclothed man, and was found in such a position by the maid the following morning. The emperor, in an attempt to save her, decreed, in his position as Pontifex Maximus, or high priest, that if Lysia were to be able to maintain the sacred fire for a period of one day, she would be found innocent. During said trial, Vesta, instructed by Jupiter, extinguished the sacred fire, and Lysia was found guilty of unchastity. As per tradition, she was sentenced to live burial in a room beneath Rome.

Personality
Already a vindictive person, Lysia became extremely critical of the gods following the ordeal with the sacred fire. She has sworn vengeance upon them and refuses to forgive. Her powers consist of corruptions of prayer, a direct snub at the gods who betrayed her.
For the most part, Lysia is a cool-headed individual, who places much store in intellect. She is rather reserved and does not like confiding in others. She can, as a result, seem rather aloof.
She is an advocate of cleanliness and dislikes dispatching victims with her own hands, perferring instead to conduct indirect kills.

Combat
Her physical combat skills are almost non-existent, so she uses her wits to dispatch her targets. Generally, she will hold them at knifepoint and force them to drink poison. If the target refuses, she will slash his or her throat, but she prefers having the victim die at his or her own hands. This is, perhaps, a throwback to her days as a Vestal Virgin, when she was considered to be "incorruptible." To end a life with her actual hands is, to Lysia, more of a crime than forcing said life to drink poison and end itself.

Weaknesses: Lysia is physically weak, and thus easy to overcome through brute strength.
Strengths: High intelligence. She is also rather stealthy and generally remains undetected. Her power to extinguish flame and light allow her to pass unseen.

Other Notes
On the subject of religion, her hatred extends to them all.
On the subject of intelligence, while she is has acute analytical skills, she lacks knowledge of modern technology. Her character was based off of priestesses of the Roman Empire.
On the subject of speech patterns, her language is extremely pretentious and bordering on the archaic. She will not invoke any religious icon when cursing - she would rather glare.
On the subject of corrupted prayer, they are essentially spells. I will have a list of them made sometime within the next week or so. Opponents, are, however, welcome to come up with their own. Keep them short, though. She may use convoluted diction, but she also invokes brevity.

----

For those who don't know, Vesta is the goddess of the hearth and the two symbols most associated with the Vestals are the hearth and pure water.

My turn to ask questions:

1) what do her prayers do, exactly? Do they work like magic spells, or do they ask the gods to perform magic for her? Or are they the ability to summon up poison water and extinguish light? Or is it something else?

2)Will she lie and/or deceive?

3)How fond is she of the Roman-Catholic church? (this one because we're supposed to fight in a giant cathedral, and in my history, they've always been christian/catholic)

4)Would she grumble and outwardly explain her dissatisfaction with the gods, and does she hate Vesta?

Just want to get stuff straight in my head; I don't want to portray her abilities as something they're not.

(plus the whole medium change here; I really need to make sure i can describe things accurately.)

Good luck!

haha. the magic vs. science thing is quite the conundrum.

1. I'm working on writing these out, actually. XP they're sort of small incantations. Effects may include the extinguishing of a fire, or the molding of water in some way, shape, or form. So little spells like "quiet, o flame. the world sleeps." to put out a fire.

2. Since her fighting skills are, essentially, nil, she will be relying heavily on her wits. So yes, lie, deceive, backstab, she'll do it all. She enjoys purity, but she will do next to anything for vengeance.

3. She hates any and all religions. They are the bane of her existence.

4. She does not really speak to herself. She thinks to herself. She is liable to get into a debate with someone over the matter of religion, and will initiate said debate when accosted by the holy. In addition to hating all religions, she hates all gods. So, yes, she does hate Vesta.

Other than that, she really has no conception of the scientifically advanced.
:iconathens025:
Okay. I think I get it!

...This is kinda funny. We have an (ex)priestess who hates religion fighting a religious robot. I love tournaments. :XD:
:iconlil-dark-messenger:
The concept of a religious robot intrigues me.

This matchup is made of massive amounts of irony. We're fighting in a cathedral, of all things. XP
:iconathens025:
Irony rocks. Let's rock this round so they can hear us in the cathedral rafters!
Good Luck!
:iconlil-dark-messenger:
I wonder if the flying buttresses are still there?

Because if they aren't, there is a high chance that the cathedral will collapse.
:iconathens025:
That is a good question. I wonder how much of the blue and gold paint's still there.

even more ironically, I have a test in the morning about the rise of cathedrals for history. I should go to bed so I don't fail the test! Good Luck!
:iconlil-dark-messenger:
haha. love love love history.

i have a history quiz tomorrow. and a calc test. and an environmental science test. hooray!
:iconathens025:
I can't say history is a strong suit of mine. I envy people who do.

Good luck with all those tests! Geez, Calculus and environmental science? I've taken classes in both; they aren't easy! Good luck!
